Salary: Placement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience. 2022-2023 Salary Schedule – $64,844 to $121,048 per year, plus an annual $2,724 stipend for an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience – maximum equals $100,663.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration, or physical therapy OR a California Community College Instructor credential appropriate to the subject OR the equivalent.

Job Description Summary
GENERAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• All full-time faculty are expected to participate actively in their disciplines, department activities, and the general intellectual life and governance of the college. Part of the teaching assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Teaching any of the Kinesiology courses which may include day or evening, off-campus, lecture, laboratory, field, and computer-aided instruction.
• Fulfill responsibilities as Head Coach (in one or more of the following women’s sports recognized by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA): Soccer, Water Polo, Swimming, Golf, Tennis, Basketball, Track & Field, Cross Country, Volleyball, Softball, Badminton, Wrestling, Beach Volleyball), providing direction for all facets of a successful college sports program, including participation in the selection of assistant coaches
• Develop and implement a strong student-athlete recruitment program for the sport
• Assist in building and maintaining strong relations between the community and the athletic department, particularly with the high schools of the district
• Assist student athletes completing their academic requirements at the community college to transfer to four-year institutions
• Assisting in fundraising efforts for Intercollegiate Athletics sports teams.
• Promoting Physical Education, Health Education, and Intercollegiate Athletics throughout the local community.
• Supporting Modesto Junior College’s commitment to transformational learning.
• Developing instructional materials, maintaining the currency of laboratory and lecture curricula, and participating in articulation with high schools, colleges and universities.
• Maintaining instructional materials and equipment inventories, including oversight and identification of minor repairs and adjustments
• Maintaining course files, student records, and student learning outcome assessments as they relate to the teaching assignment.
• Maintaining appropriate number of office hours per week.
• Attending various division, department and general college committees and maintaining active participation in professional organizations.
• Ability and willingness to work with other faculty, staff and administrative personnel on matters of college governance.
• Maintaining current knowledge of issues and concerns under discussion in the profession, particularly those of the member conference and CCCAA
• Willingness to participate in public relations work.
• Providing program advisement to students including recruitment of new students.
• Assisting in special projects as they relate to the development of the college, division, and athletic program, including cooperating with and assisting in the proficient operation of the various academic areas.
• Working successfully with diverse student interests, age levels, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Participating in program review and Educational Master Plan processes.
• Performing other departmental duties as assigned by the Dean and Athletic Director
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS
Mobility: ability to sit or stand for long periods, move about an office, and reach above and below desk level.
Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes.
Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment and material weighing up to 25 pounds.
Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and do close-up work; ability to adjust focus frequently.
Hearing/Talking: ability to hear normal speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person.
Emotional/Psychological Factors: ability to make decisions and concentrate; frequent contact with others including some public contact; frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience as a part-time or full-time instructor (beyond teaching assistant) at the secondary or collegiate level. (Community college teaching experience preferred.)

• Demonstrated experience with various teaching methods and assessment techniques.
• Record of successful athletics fundraising.
DESIRABLE CHARACTERISTICS
• Experience as a part-time or full-time instructor (beyond teaching assistant) at the secondary or collegiate level. Community college teaching experience preferred.
