Assistant Director, Multicultural Center
The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking an Assistant Director, Multicultural Center. The Assistant Director in the Multicultural Center provides supervision and support for a team of professionals providing higher education advising services to ethnic and culturally diverse students in the Multicultural Center at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). The Assistant Director has responsibility for retention, persistence, and graduation of students; educational outreach services; and counseling and advising of new and current students. With a retention focus, the ideal candidate assists new students in transitioning to the University environment and guides continuing students in the area of campus involvement as a mechanism to ensure academic success. This role will ensure compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and all related privacy issues pertaining to students and staff.
The Assistant Director supervises graduate assistants and/or internships that are completed at the Multicultural Center and assists in the training and supervision of classified and professional staff and serves in a leadership capacity in the absence of the Director. The Assistant Director assists the Director in conducting assessment of programs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of related professional experience OR
Master's Degree and two (2) years of related professional experience
Related Experience: An academic or community service setting working with diverse ethnic and/or disadvantaged student populations
Schedule or Travel Requirements
Variable work schedule and occasional travel may be required
Compensation Grade
Administrative Faculty – C
