Job Summary

Exciting new position to provide oversight and various routine award administration of grant &/or contract activities for the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health ( RMCOEH). RMCOEH became Utah's first statutorily established multi-university program in 2021. The Center works especially closely with 10 transdisciplinary Center Program Directors who hold faculty appointments in 5 University Utah departments and will work closely with faculty and staff at Weber State University to contribute to the success of this prominent, new legislative initiative and partnership.

With basic oversight completes various routine post-award and some pre-award administration of grant &/or contract activities. This position does not involve grant writing.

Responsibilities
  • Position will support Center leadership in providing financial oversight and reporting for an increasing number and variety of grants. Must be or will become skilled with university and department research administration post-award systems, processes, and policies. This position does not participate in grant writing.
  • Processes and monitor student awards and training grant funding payments using the Scholarship Administration system and the Scholarship, Traineeship, Fellowship ePR process. Provides related guidance and support to Center student trainees.
  • Strong communication skills are critical for success in this position as it will regularly interface with internal and external customers.
  • Provides financial and policy support for grant budget review/tracking. Completes project and contract-related accounts payable and account receivable duties.
  • With basic oversight from a supervisor, completes award administration including award set-up, modification, and compliance.
  • Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences, following established policies and procedures with analysis of the issue, requiring moderate innovation and creative problem solving. Candidate must be able to addresses routine issues, follow-through on projects until completion and proactively search the solutions presented to leadership.
  • This position will also provide support for special projects and departmental operations.

Minimum Qualifications

• GED or HS Diploma

• Four years' related experience or a related Associate's Degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

Preferences

The idea candidate will have familiarity with research administration post-award systems, processes, and policies is preferred. University of Utah RED training is also a plus.
