Craft Specialist

Clyde York 4-H Center

Duties/Responsibilities:

This Craft Specialist III position is housed at the Clyde York 4-H Center, a facility operated by UT Extension. The position is responsible to the 4-H Center Director. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week positions. Duties include but are not limited to:

· Facility maintenance and upkeep including electrical, plumbing, HVAC system repairs, welding metal fabrication, painting, construction and landscaping.

· Operate all equipment necessary to carry out required maintenance functions

· Conduct inspections of buildings and equipment for operational malfunctions

· The ability to use and care for basic diagnostic test equipment

· Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to work independently and as a team

· Ability to operate, maintain, and clean equipment

· Facility cleaning (mopping, stripping, and waxing floors, cleaning cabins, bathrooms, classrooms, setting up facilities for user groups).

· Assist with foodservice (i.e., grilling, washing dishes, etc.) as directed by the 4-H Center Director.

· Ensures all equipment, vehicles, and tools are maintained and repaired

· Due to frequently being the first point of contact, the Craft Specialist III should have superior communications skills and be able to effectively interact with all members of the campus community, including but not limited to: staff, faculty, administration, students, visitors, contractors, and vendors.

· Assist in providing leadership for a program of activities which meets the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, religion or veteran status.

Minimum/Required Qualifications (include education, experience, skills & abilities, licenses & certifications):

· Must have a high school diploma, or equivalent.

· Six years’ experience in the fields of general preventative maintenance, construction, or HVAC

· Valid Tennessee driver’s license.

· Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to work nights and weekends.

· Advanced level of maintenance knowledge of construction, framing, and metal fabrication.

· Small engine operation experience (i.e., chainsaws, weedeaters, etc.).

· General landscaping knowledge.

· Must have ability to repair HVAC systems.

· Welding and carpentry skills.

Preferred/DesiredQualifications:

· Seven years experience or completion of trade school or apprenticeship plus four years experience. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for year basis.

· Formal training in construction, HVAC, and/or plumbing field.

· Basic skills in small engine repair, farm equipment, and appliance repairs.
