The University of Tennessee Educational Psychology Program is accepting applications for a Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor position to serve as a core faculty member. Full Time, 9 months, begins August 1, 2024.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a line of research within a cohesive research agenda, with expectations to pursue external funding to support research and/or training initiatives
  • Teach two educational psychology courses each fall and spring semester
  • Oversee Graduate Teaching Assistants serving as instructors of record for undergraduate teacher preparation courses in Educational Psychology
  • Actively engage as a core faculty member (e.g., participate in faculty meetings, admissions review process, student review processes; participate in dissertation and comprehensive exam committees; serve on program or department committees as needed)
  • Engage in meaningful service and leadership activities in all aspects of the program. Provide leadership and service in the department, college, university, community, and profession.
  • Serve as a professional role model for students via sustained memberships in professional organizations (e.g., APA, AERA, etc.); engaging in ongoing professional development

Qualifications

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR RANK

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned doctoral degree in educational psychology or a related field (e.g., school psychology, educational research, special education) no later than August 2024
  • Evidence of a developing research agenda relevant to educational psychology
  • Demonstrated success teaching graduate-level courses
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated success in publication as evidenced by peer-reviewed journal articles and/or external funding to support research
  • Depth of educational psychology experience as evidenced by sustained part- or full-time work with socially and culturally diverse populations
  • Research interests in one or more of the following target areas: (1) motivation in learning or social emotional learning; (2) assessment practices; and/or (3) neurodiversity in educational settings
  • Ability and willingness to teach a range of core courses
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice as evidenced in applied work, supervision, teaching, research, and/or leadership
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR RANK

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned doctoral degree in educational psychology or a related field (e.g., school psychology, special education, educational research)
  • Record of research published in high-impact outlets and record of externally funded, high-impact research relevant to educational psychology
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in graduate-level educational psychology courses
  • Successful mentoring of graduate students
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Depth of educational psychology experience as evidenced by sustained part- or full-time work with socially and culturally diverse populations
  • Research expertise in one or more of the following target areas: (1) motivation in learning or social emotional learning; (2) assessment practices; and/or (3) neurodiversity in educational settings
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice as evidenced in applied work, supervision, teaching, research, and/or leadership
