Physical Requirements
The physical requirements of this position include: regularly lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50lbs; occasionally regularly lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects over 50lbs ; sitting for extended periods of time with intermittent repetitive motions (such as typing), occasionally standing and/or walking with objects between 10-25lbs; occasional exposure to loud noises, blood-borne/airborne pathogens, and/or extreme temperatures; and intermittent (10%-50%) job related travel.
Shift
Monday through Friday (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.); with occasional on-call, evening, weekend, and holidays per business needs.
Job Summary
The Clinical Quality Specialist Sr. is responsible for promoting a culture of safety and quality at UK HealthCare. This position servers as a patient safety leader for UK Healthcare teams through the facilitation of root cause analysis and reporting of any findings as appropriate. This position will also analyze and identify trends from patient safety reports; support educational programs in quality and patient safety; implement quality and safety initiatives as directed by nursing and medical leadership; promote ongoing improvement by sharing “lessons learned” to other units and departments; coordinate and collaborate with leadership and risk management to ensure organizational compliance with all regulations, standards, and policies related to quality and patient safety; prepare directives, guidelines, and information on various components of quality management and patient safety for dissemination throughout the enterprise; participate in orientation and the ongoing education and training of all UK Healthcare staff; and act as a representative of UK Healthcare in functions outside of UK.
This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.

The ideal candidate will operate effectively within a matrixed organization; have experience with root cause analysis; experience with coordinating quality and patient safety programs and initiatives; have the ability to collaborate with others toward Enterprise goals, taking into account divergent demands while managing scope and timelines; demonstrates strong analytical and qualitative research experience; be well organized; have exceptional communication skills (written & verbal); enjoy working independently as well as closely with their co-workers in a supportive team environment; outstanding computer skills (to include Microsoft Office); above average customer service skills; active listening skills; and a thorough understanding of patient safety.

Preferred Education/Experience
BSN degree with 6 years of experience and knowledge of quality patient safety preferred. There are no equivalencies for a BSN.
