Job Summary

Assist in acquiring ancillary financial support from external entities and individuals by researching funding opportunities, writing and preparing proposals, developing grant opportunities for the District and assisting with project evaluation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Writes grants and proposals and other fundraising communications
• Researches potential funding sources including, public, private, state, federal, and corporate organizations
• Assists in the solicitation of funding sources at state, national and local levels for identified college needs
• Researches federal, state, and foundation grant resources via Internet, subscriptions, books, workshops, personal contacts, etc.
• Assists with the development and editing of written materials for the development office
• Supports the development and submission process
• Researches eligibility criteria of potential grant opportunities
• Matches potential grants to the appropriate departments and programs within the district
• Discusses grant possibilities with the director of development and appropriate department heads and deans
• Assists with communication of funding opportunities, strategies, determination of eligibility and requirements to campus personnel
• Works with the departmental and interdisciplinary project grant coordinators to develop the basic outline for proposals
• Assists in the preparation of the proposals
• Edits and prepares the final package for submission
• Assists with project budget in cooperation with the department heads or assigned personnel and the business office
• Assists and participates in Development Office activities, programs and projects particularly those that document and develop resource materials for development proposals
• Assists with monitoring funded activities
• Assists with maintenance of files and records system on project applications, awards, reports and supporting documents
• Assists with submission of required reports, including interim and final report as appropriate
• Monitors TCC's compliance with proposal objectives and funding agencies reporting and accountability standards
• Assists in monitoring College's fiscal and in-kind matching commitments for proposals
• Prepares an annual summary of grant activities building to monthly reports as the program matures
• Develops a technical assistance approach for College personnel
• Assists in developing the first operational set of college policy and procedures for grantsmanship
• Develops educational opportunities for TCC staff regarding grants and proposal writing
• Develops an internal calendar of funding deadlines
• Eventually develops the first online grant reference site for TCC
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Four (4) years of experience in organizing and coordinating a grant initiative program, public relations, fundraising program or a communications division

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the educational and community service mission of the community college
• Experience writing responses to request for proposals (RFP) from federal funding agencies (e.g. Department of Education, Department of Labor, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience with computerized systems
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
