The role:
As a resident engineer, you will oversee the construction of highway projects along a critical section of I-84 in northern central Oregon, along with other regional state highways. You will develop contracts with outsourced companies, manage projects with a team of staff and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and the public. A day in the life:

Represent management in the development of complex highway construction projects.
-
Perform supervisory functions for the workforce and provide excellent leadership, a positive work environment and a culture of innovative thinking.

Ensure that business and property owners, the public and other stakeholders can provide input, are kept informed and issues are resolved during projects.

Ensure contractors meet environmental, traffic and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) state and federal compliance standards and requirements.

Oversee progress reports and payment processes for contractors and manage changes to contracts which could impact projects.

Review the quality of work provided in accordance with contract plans and specifications.

Conduct frequent site visits to remote locations to examine construction sites and resolve safety, security or other issues.

Evaluate each project upon completion with a goal of continuous process and quality improvement.

Work requires being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays, working long hours, frequent travel to construction sites, working near traffic or heavy equipment and working in adverse weather.

What we need:
A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering AND three (3) years of journey level professional engineer experience.
Note: Three (3) years of journey level professional engineer experience is considered licensed experience only. If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration in Oregon within six months of hire.
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
