Public Relations Manager
Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Public Relations Manager. Reporting to the Director of Public Relations & Communications, the Public Relations Manager is instrumental in executing the firm's public and media relations strategies and overall positioning. This position is responsible for the development, execution and supervision of both strategic and day-to-day public and media relations activities to raise the firm's profile before external audiences. The position interfaces with all levels of the firm, with the media and with clients. Administrative responsibilities include staff supervision and adherence to departmental budget.
This position can reside in our Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, or Washington, DC office with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific Duties Include:

Serves as deputy to the Director of Public Relations & Communications, maintaining an uncompromised ability to respond quickly to current events with a strong sense of urgency, and assisting with crisis communications efforts

Serves as a coach and instructor to train attorneys and professional team members on public relations responses and posturing

Develops and leads execution of firm's social media strategy; Develops and forecasts needs relating to media action plans

Maintains knowledge of current events and industry competitors' media efforts, contacts and competitive intelligence

Manages relations and communications with external contacts and sources to cultivate media relationships with writers, reporters, editors, and producers in local, regional, national, and international markets

Works closely with the Business Development & Marketing team to develop in-depth expertise of particular industries and/or practice areas in order to design and develop public relation strategies aimed at supporting business development

Writes, edits and distributes press releases and media advisories to announce firm news and reflect the firm's position and goals

Reviews, approves, and coordinates media releases from internal and external resources, agencies, and contractors

Positions and pitches attorneys to media as thought leaders in their areas of focus

Ensures timely coordination with Counsel on agreements for publication and article reprints to comply with intellectual property and ethical standards

Coordinates with outside public relations agencies on special projects as necessary.

Analyzes results of the firm's public and media relations efforts, and recommends strategic action based on trends

Provides guidance to other Public Relations and Business Development team members as well as other firm administrative departments in the development of responses to surveys and nominations

Leads by example; establishes clear expectations; sets direction and priorities; ensures that work levels are balanced among all staff; resolves internal staff issues in a timely manner; keeps staff informed of all appropriate information; builds effective team; delegates at appropriate level

Directly supervises PR team members in execution of public relations projects in support of business development across practice groups, geographic regions, and client industries; Facilitates the development of staff by providing opportunities and support; provides timely feedback on work product; regularly coaches, evaluates, and recognizes staff performance and accomplishments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in a related marketing, communications or journalism discipline (advanced degree preferred); and,
-
a minimum of seven years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience; or,
-
an equivalent combination of education and experience.

For positions in NY, the salary range for this job posting is
$113,580.00 - $181,728.00.
The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
