Operations Manager
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Directs Operations and Sales for all assigned locations. Responsible for the overall direction, sales service, safety, coordination and evaluation of all locations.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Supervises all Dispatchers, Drivers and Mechanics in assigned territory.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Hires and trains new drivers in market areas as needed
Develops plans for efficient use of equipment and employees
Makes sales calls and customer relationships to ensure we have profitable revenue growth
Reviews operating costs and modifies operations and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operations.
Recommends operational budgets to management
Coordinates and approves the purchasing of facility equipment and maintenance items
Provides direction and develops plans to comply with state and federal requirements on D.O.T. regulations and environmental issues.
Coordinates and conducts safety training for all employees.
Recommends budget, expenditures, and appropriations
Reviews market analysis to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates.
Provides superior customer service and professionalism with the company and industry
Develops marketing plan to maximize equipment utilization and profitability
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Follows Manito Transit’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply
Driving on behalf of company may be required
Provides support to dispatch during peak season demands and absences
Performs all other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Normally requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a business or transportation related field, or the equivalent thereof, and 5 years or more of operations related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of planning, organization, problem solving, and project management and computer proficiency.
Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development
Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
Ability to work extended hours as business conditions warrant
Ability to travel independently and overnight
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
