This position is located in the Podiatry and Orthopedic Clinic at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ.
Duties

- Fits, fabricates, applies and modifies braces, splints and casts which serve as rigid immobilizing devices, or as light flexible supporting devices designed to permit a fixed range of movement and function with technical review by podiatrist or orthopedist.
- Fits patients having deformed or malfunctioning feet with appropriate footwear.
- Fits, modifies and dispenses ambulation aids including but not limited to canes, crutches, platform crutches and walkers.
- Review patient charts and assembles needed support documents such as x-rays, lab reports and pathology reports.
- Instructs patients, families and staff about ambulation aids, footwear and orthotics, braces, splints and casts and assigned information.
- Removes and applies dressings. Removes sutures, steri-strips and skin staples, and other technical support in the operating room or minor procedure room.
- Maintains functional inventory of inpatient podiatry and orthopedic supplies including traction and transfer equipment, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Examples include: Using cast cutters, cast spreaders, pedorthotic grinders, dremel drills, ball and ring stretchers, orthotic ovens and heat guns to apply, fabricate, and modify braces, splints, casts, orthotics and healing sandals.
