The Bucks County Courier Times is looking for a journalist to join our newsroom as our Central Bucks County reporter, focusing on one of our largest and most dynamic school districts and the communities it serves. There are countless stories to tell as this area has a changing school district, expanding commercial corridor, trending popular downtown, dining and entertainment centers and new housing developments in one of our fastest -growing areas. This position is an essential part of the newsroom and the reporter will produce daily and enterprise content. This position generates breaking news stories, spots trends and reports on daily events. Responsible for reporting and writing accurately for style, grammar, spelling, meaning, length and completeness on deadline. Position also requires multimedia work, including video and photos. Candidates should have at least two years' experience. 

Responsibilities:

  • Use metrics and analytics to determine how to best reach and grow the audience.

  • Apply innovative, creative thinking to support the company’s goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or master’s in communications, journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in professional journalism writing and reporting or substantial internship or fellowship experience.
  • Understanding of metrics, social media and SEO.
  • Solid news judgment.
  • Self-motivation and self-direction.
  • Top-notch planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and excel under intense deadline pressure in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Command of media law and principles of ethical conduct.
  • This role requires a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
  • Employment is contingent on passing a post-offer pre-employment background check, motor vehicle record check & urinalysis drug screen.
