Sewer Superintendent - City of Lexington

The City of Lexington is accepting applications to fill one vacancy in the full-time position of Public Maintenance, Division of Sewer, Superintendent. This position performs a wide variety of manual tasks involving the maintenance and repair of City of Lexington sewer lines, lift stations, roadways and curb inlets, building and grounds. The Sewer Superintendent works 40 hours a week, 8:00 am -4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime to complete job requirements, as well as be on 24-hour call when necessary.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements included but not limited to: 1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent 2. Must possess or obtain a Class 4 WasteWater Treatment Sewer Operators Certification, per State of Illinois regulations. 3. Must be willing to pursue in the future a Class B Public Water Supply Operators Certification per State of Illinois regulations 4. Possess a valid driver's license and obtain a valid Class B CDL Driver's license (within 6 months of hire) 5. Ability to pass a personal interview, physical and drug screen when applicable. The employee must be available and present for work as scheduled; be available for after hour calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and perform all functions of the job safely and efficiently at all times in compliance with all safety regulations and policies for the safety and welfare of the employee, co-workers and the public. Must be able to attend and participate in job related meetings, seminars and continuous education training and courses. This position requires the employee to assist the other city departments as needed.

Salary: Competitive salary based on qualifications. The Sewer Department Superintendent will receive a benefits package and work 40 hours per week, plus any required overtime. The candidate selection process consists of a review of the candidate’s past work experience/skills and a personal interview. Successful candidates must successfully pass all required screenings and tests administered, when applicable, in order to be a candidate for this position.
